AskMed for iPad
AskMed runs on iPad as well as iPhone, from the same App Store app. It works in portrait and landscape, alongside other apps in Split View and Stage Manager, and keeps answers in a centered column that is easy to read on a large screen. Every iPhone feature is there, from cited answers and Research Mode to attachments and seven languages. Get AskMed on the App Store.

What AskMed does on iPad
AskMed on iPad is the same app as on iPhone, built to use the larger screen. You install it from the same App Store listing, Medical Assistant: AskMed AI, and get every feature of the iPhone app: Ask Anything and Research, numbered citations with source sheets, the source filters with the Number of sources slider from 3 to 12, attachments from PDFs, images and notes, three suggested follow-ups after every answer, History, Saved and Private Mode, sharing through the share sheet, and seven languages including Arabic with a right-to-left layout. The iPad layout keeps the main content in a centered column rather than stretching lines of text across the whole width, so answers read like a page in a book instead of a wide banner. It works in portrait and landscape, either way up. iPad support arrived in AskMed version 1.5, and the app needs iPadOS 17 or later, the same minimum as iOS 17 on iPhone.
How it works with iPad multitasking
AskMed works with the iPad's multitasking features, so it can sit next to the other apps you use. In Split View, AskMed takes one side of the screen while a PDF reader, a notes app or a browser takes the other, and the layout follows the window as you resize it. In Stage Manager, AskMed runs in a resizable window; it keeps the window above a minimum size so that every screen still fits, including the setup screens that don't scroll. Attaching a PDF opens the Files picker, so a document saved in Files or a cloud drive can be attached directly. Answers, History and Saved answers are stored on the iPad and are included in your iCloud or device backups, as on iPhone. Each iPad keeps its own History, separate from your iPhone's. A subscription bought in the App Store is tied to your Apple account, so it can be used on both your iPhone and your iPad when they share that Apple account.
For a wider screen still, the web app runs in any browser.
When the iPad app helps
The iPad app helps when you want to read an answer and its sources side by side, or keep AskMed open while you work in another app. A doctor in clinic can keep AskMed in Split View next to a guideline PDF and check one against the other. A nurse can use a ward iPad to look up a question during a shift, in landscape on a stand. A pharmacist can ask about interactions on a counter iPad and open the drug label in the same view. A medical student can revise with AskMed on one side and a notes app on the other, saving the best answers to Saved and pasting explanations into notes. A researcher can run Research Mode questions while reading the cited papers in a browser beside it. Teachers and tutors can go through an answer and its citations with a group on a larger screen. The centered reading column keeps long answers comfortable to read in either orientation.

Limits of the iPad app
The iPad app shares the answer limits of every AskMed platform: answers are written by AI and can contain errors, AskMed never gives drug doses, and it is not for diagnosing patients or for emergencies. On iPad specifically, History is stored on the device, so it does not sync between your iPad and your iPhone; each keeps its own list, which returns only from that device's backup. History in the iPad app is also separate from History in the web app. Home screen and Lock Screen widgets are not in the current App Store version of AskMed. The app needs iPadOS 17 or later, so older iPads that can't run it are not supported. In Stage Manager the window can't be made smaller than AskMed's minimum size. AskMed uses a light appearance even when the iPad is set to dark mode. Image text recognition reads printed words in a picture, not the content of medical images.
